A shocking decision ends up having dramatic consequences for two friends and their loved ones.
Following the passing of her parents as a child, Oriyomi moves to Nigeria from Britain, where she befriends Ifelolu. The two of them develop a strong bond and grow up together, ending up owning an events management business. Eventually, Oriyomi meets and marries Akinola (Mofe Duncan), while Ifelolu marries Efosa (Enyinna Nwigwe). Eventually, problems arise within both couples, as Akinola is determined to father a son and Efosa wants a child, while Ifelolu does not. Hoping to avoid further issues, the two friends come up with an idea that might end up ruining their lives.
This emotional drama revolves around two lifelong friends, whose friendship is put to the test due to the challenges they face while trying to move on with their lives. Beginning with Oriyomi and Ifelolu in a courtroom, the narrative then cuts to a flashback that reveals how things ended up that way. The screenplay does a good job in exploring their friendship, how they remained inseparable and supported each other through childhood and into adulthood, faced challenges together and started their own business. Things proceed to go downhill after they marry and their husbands proceed to upset them with their wishes regarding children. What follows is a great deal of drama with secrets, revelations, and confrontations.
The feature deals with a variety of subjects, including friendship, trust, coming-of-age, marriage, parenthood, family values and death and it utilises all of these to tell quite a dramatic story, the heart of which is the secret act the two friends perform with the intention of avoiding trouble.
Tope Laguda and Adunni Ade deliver very strong performances as the adult versions of the characters of Oriyomi and Ifelolu, who are forced to deal with the consequences of their actions. The characters of Akinola and Efosa could be viewed as the antagonists, as it is their wishes and actions that influence their wives to make a life-changing decision.
Regarding the soundtrack, there are several romantic and moving songs and the music composed by Emeka Onuoha is tense and sinister, which goes well with the scenes of confrontation.
This film is an emotional rollercoaster that centres around a friendship that deteriorates. Thanks to strong acting and an intriguing plot that explores serious issues, this viewing provides a dramatic and thoughtful experience.
